Your Disney Trip
Planning a Disney trip is a lot of fun. When it is planning your own Disney trip it is even more fun! Every trip to Walt Disney World is different and can be tailored to fit the needs of you and your party. Whether you are going for one day or one month, there is a Disney trip for you! Before you save for your Disney trip, you have to choose a few details so that you will know the cost of your trip.
How long will you be staying?
-If you can afford it we usually suggest a minimum of five days. That will give you four days so you can visit each park and on your fifth day you can do a rest day or another day at Magic Kingdom as it can be tough to enjoy the entire park in one day.
Where will you stay?
We suggest staying on Disney property and never leaving the magic! This also gives you access to Disney transportation (it’s free!), Extra Magic Hours (EMH) at the parks, and the option of sending any purchases you make at the parks or Disney Springs to your resort so you don’t have to carry it around.
When will you go?
Disney World has different times of the year where it is busier and as expected the prices are slightly more expensive during those times. Even though you save some money on the slower seasons (and once in awhile Disney will offer Free Dining during some parts of the slower season) you need to pick a time that works for your family.
What parks will you visit?
There are the four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. Then there are the two water parks: Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. The more parks you visit, it will cost more, but it is worth it and when you buy multiple days worth of tickets you get better value for your money. You could also choose to get the Park Hopper pass (where you can visit more than one park per day) for an extra cost.
Will you use a Disney dining package or will you just purchase your food as you need it? The first choice would be to use the Disney dining package if you get the offer of Free Dining! If you do not do free dining it is up to your particular needs. For peace of mind to not think or worry about spending on money while at Disney, we like to purchase the dining package. However, we have seen that you can save money by skipping the dining plan and paying as you go.
Another factor that can be easy to overlook is actually how you will get there. Maybe you live within an hour of Walt Disney World and you drive each time. However, if you live out of state you may be trying to choose between driving or flying to Walt Disney World. Either choice can be a lot of fun, you just need to choose what works for your family.
If you fly, when you arrive at the airport you will be picked up by Walt Disney World’s Magical Express, which will take you and your luggage to your resort. This is a fun way to arrive, as you feel like you are getting a little bit of Disney as soon as you get to the Airport! If you drive like we do, we suggest making the trip itself something special. We like to stop and see family on the way, or pick our favorite places to eat that are not near us usually, or sometimes we will pick a cool destination to stop at on the way! Either way, you are going to Walt Disney World!
