Disney for Kids- Disney World Closures

Disney World is an AWESOME place to be! But, it sure stinks when there are permanent closures at Disney!

So today, I have some permanent closures at Disney World to talk about. First, let’s start with the Animal Kingdom. The only permanent closure I know about right now at the Animal Kingdom park is Flights of Wonder. This was a bird show, that closed on December 31st, 2017. I only went once, but I really loved it! Disney is looking to replace Flights of Wonder with a show featuring the characters from the movie Up. That is going to open in 2018.

Next, we can talk about Magic Kingdom permanent closures. In Magic Kingdom, I guess you could say Stich’s Great Escape closed because it is now only a seasonal attraction. (I have heard other things about this attraction, but I think this might just be the most accurate.) The only thing that permanently closed is the phone charging kiosks in both  Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe and in the Space Mountain gift shop.

Third, we have Hollywood Studios. A LOT, of things, permanently closed! Like, Lights, Motor, Action Extreme Stunt Show. Even though that closed in 2016, I still thought I should mention it, in case you haven’t been to Disney World in a while. Another thing that permanently closed in 2016 is the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure. (That stinks, I loved that the one time I went!) One thing that closed in August 2017 was The Great Movie Ride. But, Mickey and Minnie’s Runway Railway will be opening in its place sometime! Mickey’s first ride featuring himself! Along with those things, a couple shops, and restaurants.

The last park I’m going to talk about is Epcot. Something that JUST closed last month in February 2018, is The Circle of Life. I never went on it, but that is just another thing that Epcot took away that was a learning experience. Another thing Epcot took away was Ellen’s Universe of Energy, in August 2017. I don’t know if they had to take it away, or if they just wanted to replace it. They are replacing it with something Guardians of the Galaxy.

Disney World may keep taking things away, but I know that I can always trust them to come up with a great new thing to replace it! Closures won’t stop me from being a Disney lover!
