Rides In Magic Kingdom You Should Get a Fastpass+ For

Walt Disney World is the place where dreams come true… practically everyone wants to vacation there at least once in their lifetime! While that is a great thing for Disney, that sometimes can cause a bit of a problem for the guests visiting. Why? Well, because a lot of people visiting at once makes for very long waits for some attractions, especially in the Magic Kingdom, Disney World’s most popular Park. So, there are some rides you should definitely get a Fastpass+ for, so you will be guaranteed to ride them. You can’t get a Fastpass+ for all of these rides, (unless some kind of Disney miracle happens) but this is just to give you an idea of some you may want to snag.

Peter Pan’s Flight

Believe it or not, Peter Pan’s Flight located in Fantasyland is one of the most popular rides in Magic Kingdom. Most of the time, the wait time is over an hour! Even though the interactive queue is pretty cool, I don’t think it’s worth waiting in line 75 (or on most days, more) minutes. Waiting in line for that long can really put a dent in your Magic Kingdom day, by taking up a ton of time for a two minutes “flight.” If your party needs to ride this classic opening day dark ride, you should 100% book a Fastpass+ 60 days out if you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort and 30 days out if you are staying off property. If this is not a must-do for you, then I wouldn’t use one of your 3 Fastpass+ on this attraction. If you get lucky, the standard line might be a bit shorter, and you will be able to ride without a Fastpass+, and also without cutting a lot of time from your Park day.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Since this attraction opened in New Fantasyland back in May 2014, it’s had extremely long wait times from when the Park opens, til when it closes. The longest posted wait time was 230 minutes, but that was back when the rollercoaster was still newer, so it was still new to some people. While Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train is almost six years old, (It feels like it was just yesterday that it opened!) wait times can still get extremely long, and this attraction almost always holds the longest wait time in the park! Like I said about Peter Pan, if you have to ride the ride, then you should absolutely get a Fastpass+. While this is a very fun ride, it’s not my personal favorite, so this isn’t a must-do attraction for me, but it is for a lot of families. One of those reasons is because the height requirement for this ride is 3′ 2″, so most young children can ride this, causing families with young kids (and there are a lot of them at Walt Disney World) to want to ride. Keep in mind though, this is not just a kiddie ride, this is a fun coaster for all ages!(Except for babies of course)

Haunted Mansion

Yes, I know, I know, another dark ride. You might not have expected to see more than one dark ride on this list, but some Disney dark rides are very popular, most of these beings classics. Like Peter Pan’s Flight, Haunted Mansion is one of the dark rides in Magic Kingdom with typically long wait times. Once in a while, you can catch Haunted Mansion with a short wait time, but a majority of the time, that’s not the case. However, normally the wait time is not as long as Peter Pan’s Flight or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, so if you feel like waiting 45 minutes to ride the Haunted Mansion, then you can do that. Then again, you can just wait in line for any ride on this list, but it could end up taking a good amount of time out of your park day. For me, Haunted Mansion is a must-do ride in Magic Kingdom, and I don’t enjoy waiting in long lines and taking time away from doing other things in the park. So, if you are like me, you should look at getting a Fastpass+ for Haunted Mansion if you want to ride it.

Space Mountain

In my opinion, Space Mountain is one of the best rides in Magic Kingdom, and all of Disney World for that matter. And like I’m sure you’ve guessed, a lot of other people visiting Magic Kingdom feel the same way. The Space Mountain wait time is normally always around an hour or longer. On most days, right when the park opens, Space Mountain has about a thirty-minute wait, and that just gets longer as the day goes on. I recommend Space Mountain to anyone who enjoys rollercoasters, so if that’s you, definitely get a Fastpass+ to avoid those long, long wait times.

Big Thunder Moutain Railroad

Big Thunder Moutain Railroad is undoubtedly one of the most popular rides in Magic Kingdom, and as you would guess, that means that the wait time is often long. While this ride is not as popular as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the wait times can still get pretty long. I would recommend getting a Fastpass+ for this classic attraction so waiting in line doesn’t take too much of your time. However, if you are feeling adventurous, you can skip the Fastpass+ on this rollercoaster, and just try and get lucky with the wait time, since on some days it’s not too bad.

Pirates Of The Caribbean

This is another one of those attractions where you could test it out and not get a Fastpass+, but it’s kind of risky. Sometimes Pirates Of The Caribbean has a short line, and sometimes the line gets to over an hour long. So if this is a must-do ride for your family, you should probably get a Fastpass+. If not, then I wouldn’t use a Fastpass+ on this ride. Keep in mind though, after you use all 3 of your Fastpasses, you can make other ones if some are available. So if you get very lucky, you might be able to not make a Fastpass for Pirates Of The Caribbean until you are ready to ride.

That’s A Lot!

I know what you’re probably thinking… why did I give you this long list of ideas of you can only book 3 Fastpasses in advance? Well, that’s because whichever one you choose is up to you entirely. You can choose from this list, or you could choose one that I didn’t bring up at all, like Splash Mountain, or Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Although, I would highly recommend not getting Fastpasses for dark rides, (other than the ones that I mentioned) unless you really, really want to ride them, because most of the time dark rides have short wait times. Anyways, good luck getting your Fastpasses, and remember to get a Fastpass+ 60 days out!

See You Real Soon!
