10 Fun Disney Countdowns

There are so many things to do when planning a trip to Disney World, but one of the best ways to build excitement for your family is with a Disney countdown. Once your trip is booked you can create a My Disney Experience account and see a countdown until your arrival date right from the site, but it’s easy and fun to create your own. The internet has a plethora of ideas for Disney countdowns and after scouring around, here are some of my favorites.

Top 10 Disney Countdowns for Vacation


Kara over at The Joys of Boys did an excellent DIY post on creating this Disney countdown. This is one of my favorites and the one that my family has used every year to build excitement for our vacation. It is simple, doesn’t require a lot of supplies or being overly crafty and it still looks super cute!


While this jar might not be a true Disney countdown that easily shows you how many days remain until your vacation, it was too fun not to include. Rachel at R & R Workshop gives easily to follow directions to create a fun way to build excitement for Disney. Each day gives you and your children a different Disney related activity to do.


Sometimes life gets busy, especially when getting ready for vacations, and our good intentions get pushed aside. Does the thought of crafting a countdown seem nice but unrealistic? Check out this easy Disney countdown printable from CapturingMagic.me.


There are many countdowns that use the Mickey shaped paint samples and I thought this one from A Disney Mom’s Thoughts had a creative twist. Each day you uncover one of the colored Mickeys to see how many days you have left.


I absolutely love this Disney countdown, but be warned, this is a bigger project. If you are crafty then this is right up your alley. I found this over at Fiddle Dee Me (which no longer puts out new content on the blog)


This is a simple and classy Disney printable from Ashley at Frugal Coupon Living. You can put the free printable in a picture frame and use a dry erase marker to countdown your days in the center of the Mickey Mouse.


Here is another fun way to make a chain link Disney countdown. This printable lets you create a chain out of fun Disney themed character links. This is a great countdown that your kids can help you make.


These are adorable Disney princess countdown chains from Tiffany at Making the World Cuter! My girls were super excited when they saw these and I have a feeling we might be doing a combination of these along with our traditional Mickey Mouse countdown.

If you like Elf on the Shelf then you will love this idea for a vacation countdown! While the site I found it on, Disney Dreamin’…, is no longer active I thought it was too cute of an idea to pass up. Minnie was hiding (or getting into trouble) each morning when her daughter woke up and there was always a countdown note to go along with it. If you don’t mind putting some thought into it this could be a fun way to countdown to your Disney vacation.


This fun Disney countdown, from Kelly at the pretty bee, is actually a chalkboard topped box that allows you to hid a little gift inside each day. This is a great way to surprise your child with fun items to bring on your trip, anything from Disney stickers to snacks for the care ride or flight.
