Disney News!- Disneyland Is Not Reopening Soon, Splash Mountain Is Changing, And More!

In the last few days, Disney has released so much big news that it’s honestly making my head spin! This includes some Disney World Resorts reopening, the fact that Disneyland will not be reopening on July 17th, and even more!

Disneyland’s Reopening Has Been Postponed

This morning, Disney stated that they are delaying the reopening of Disneyland due to rules made by the State of California. The company said that they would not be able to make theme park reopening plans until after July 4th. This news was decided after coronavirus cases began to rise again across the country. Although, Downtown Disney in Disneyland is still planning to reopen to the public on July 9th. In addition to Disneyland’s reopening being delayed, a petition for Disney World’s reopening to be postponed was started by Disney Cast Members a few days ago. With the way things are going, it looks like that is also going to happen.

A Few Disney World Resorts Reopen

On June 22nd, Disney’s Vacation Club Resorts along with Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground reopened to guests. Of course, each of these resorts reopened with news safety guidelines so that all guests staying at or visiting a Disney World Resort will feel and be safe. With the reopening of Disney World’s newest resort, the Riviera Resort, the character breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace also reopened. While you cannot come in close contact with Mickey and friends, you can still take selfies with them, but from 6 feet away of course.

Splash Mountain Redesign

Earlier today, Disney released a statement revealing that Splash Mountain in both Disney World and Disneyland will be re themed into a ride based off the Disney movie Princess and The Frog. The ride previously starred characters from the 1946 Disney film, Song of The South, an extremely controversial and racist movie. While we will be sad to see this classic Disney ride go, the reasoning behind it all is definitely understandable, and we can’t wait to see what they do with the Princess and The Frog theme!

Cinderella Castle Refurbishment

The Cinderella Castle in Disney World has been being refurbished while the parks have been shut down, and when I saw this picture I was shocked! Cinderella Castle no longer looks white and blue, but blue and a pink-ish color! If I’m being honest, I wish they hadn’t changed it, because now it looks a little too much like Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland. A lot of other Disney fans agree, and have been voicing their opinions.

Lately there has been so much Disney news, and I’m sure there is only more to come. So just in case Disney World also delays their reopening, be sure to stay tuned for more news coming to A Dollop Of Disney! But until then, stay safe and have a magical day!
