The Purple Wall In Disney World-What’s The Big Deal?

If you’ve ever been to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, (Or even just looked on a Disney Instagram account) then I’m sure you’ve seen the iconic Purple Wall in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland. But even if you’ve heard of it, you might not get the appeal. I mean, after all it’s just a purple wall!

The Beginning

The history of the Purple Wall is actually pretty simple. The Purple Wall was just… well a wall, until Magic Kingdom guests started to take pictures of themselves in front of it, and post them on Instagram using the hashtag #purplewall. This became a HUGE trend, and suddenly it seemed like all Disney guests wanted a turn to take a picture in front of the Purple Wall! Cast Members were confused at first, because the Purple Wall was not supposed to be a big deal in the first place. But of course, after time, even the Cast Members knew that the Purple Wall was a big deal.

Merchandise

Eventually, the Purple Wall became such a big deal among Disney World fans that it got its own merchandise! Yes, I know. It sounds ridiculous. A wall got its own merchandise? But yes, it’s true. One of the most iconic pieces of Purple Wall merchandise is a purple hat that reads, “Meet Me At The Purple Wall.” Disney continued to release more Purple Wall merchandise, including Magic Bands, phone cases, and more. Eventually, the Purple Wall became so widely known that it got it’s own cotton candy flavor! (No, I’m not making this up.)

The Purple Wall Changes

After the famous wall became so popular that it got it’s own merchandise, I guess Disney thought it was time for a bit of a change. Because, one morning, the Purple Wall had suddenly changed. It was still purple, but it had a Spaceship Earth type pattern along with it. Disney fans on social media were not stoked about this at first. But like always, over time guests grew to like the new Purple Wall, and now it might even be more iconic than it was before!

Overall

In the end, the famous Purple Wall really is just… a wall. You might see the appeal and long to get a picture by the amazing wall, or you might not care at all. Either way, I hope this gave you a bit of knowledge as to why some people love a wall in Disney World so much. Anyways, stay tuned for more Disney content, and have a magical day!
